Nick covered hunting and fishing this week, so I’m adding another sport to the blog that we have yet to see: Tennis. This weekend will see the end of The Championships at Wimbledon. So far the tournament has been quite a spectacle. Whether it is close matches or the brand new roof on centre court, it’s been a tournament to watch.
The finals should be another sight, both in Women’s and Men’s singles. Once again, the Williams sisters will do battle for the platter at centre court this weekend. Venus is aiming to win her 6th, and Serena her 3rd. You think they now have won enough huge silver plates to feed their family?
As for men, the finals are not yet set. While everyone knows Nadal, who pulled out due to injury prior to the tournament, will not face Federer again, that does not mean the final will not be worthy of your eyes. Federer, the most likely winner of his semi-final match up with Tommy Haas tomorrow, will take on either Roddick of Murray. Both youngsters have yet to win the tournament, and will be gunning for Federer (like the rest of the world). Not only that, Andy Murray has been the feel good story of the tournament having grown up fairly poor in London.
So hopefully everyone will tune in the next couple days to watch these final matches. If you’re still not convinced, let me leave you with one more good reason for each gender:
Guys: You get to watch the Williams sisters
Gals: You get to watch Roddick and Federer
